Why might I need laser after cataract surgery?
It is not uncommon after cataract surgery for the membrane the implant rests on to go hazy. This affects approximately 1 in 6 patients that have undergone surgery. It can develop at any time although it usually develops within the first year after surgery. It can affect your vision in several ways but most commonly you would notice cloudy or hazy vision, reduced vision or glare around lights. Your optician may have detected this and recommended that you have laser treatment.
Laser equipment at Sarum Vision
Here at Sarum Vision we have the latest laser equipment to remove the hazy membrane and restore clarity of vision. Where appropriate, our experienced specialist Consultants will be able to assess you and treat you as a “one-stop” treatment with no special anaesthetic or preparation required. Sarum Vision can provide your laser treatment even if your original cataract surgery was performed elsewhere.
What is the cost of laser treatment?
Your Consultant will examine you at an initial consultation and guide you through deciding whether laser treatment is the best treatment for you.
If you decide to proceed with laser treatment then your Consultant would normally be able to perform this on the day of your consultation as a “one stop”. The laser package price includes post-procedure drops and one follow-up consultation. If you decide not to proceed with the laser treatment then you would only be charged for your initial consultation.
